南京AEAS培训：AEAS词汇题，备考无招？

　　AEAS阅读题型：细节题、态度题、填空题、词汇题等。词汇题的特征不是完全陌生就是易混淆。背单词持久战不能丢，但是掌握一些AEAS词汇题的技巧亦是不可少。

　　构词法技巧

　　例题

　　The room in this hotel is so spacious that Angela has to pay a lot of money for it.

　　What is the nearest meaning of the word ”spacious”?

　　A.luxurious B. large C. extravagant

　　解答

　　“spacious”是一个相对生僻的单词，由题意得到的信息是该单词是一个比较正面的形容词，因此C选项“夸张的”可以排除。A选项“奢华的”，B选项“大的”就相对难取舍。

　　这时用构词法来解决，“spacious”词根是“space”（空间），这个是容易联想到的，那么“spacious”就应该是跟“空间”有关系的词，故选B。“spacious”意为宽敞的。

　　1.This warm weather is abnormal for February.

　　What is the nearest meaning of the word “abnormal”?

　　A.aberrant B. extraordinary C. divergent

　　2.Crook liked her well enough, but remained indifferent to her feminine charms.

　　What is the nearest meaning of the word “indifferent”?

　　A.lazy B. innocent C. unconcerned

　　联系上下文方法

　　有些单词我们可能从未见过，但文章中也要求我们选出“nearest meaning”，考生会感觉一筹莫展。但是上下文我们应该大致能看懂，那么就用能懂的部分推出我们不懂的部分。

　　例题1

　　The fishermen make their canoes from tree trunks.They go from island to island in these light boats and collect turtles’ eggs.

　　解答

　　“canoe”对考生来说是一个相对陌生的AEAS词汇，不过大家还是可以将这句话翻译出来的：渔民们用树桩做“canoe”，他们用这些轻便小船穿梭在岛屿间收集乌龟蛋。

　　这一题还是很容易根据线索推断出来的。“these light boats”就是指代上文的“canoes”，因此“canoe”就应该是“筏子、轻舟”这一类的东西。

　　例题2

　　Trodray has become very popular in some countries.It is believed to be a good exercise for old people .

　　解答

　　那么可能不知道“Trodray”具体是什么意思，但是根据下面一句“它被认为是一项对于老年人很好的运动”可以知道这应该一项相对温和的运动，知道这些信息就足够了。

　　同义、反义猜词

　　顾名思义，这种词汇题一般是以连接词连接两个短句，这两个短句可能是相支持或是相对应，并且其中一个词我们一般是知道的。所以，我们能够根据相互关系猜测另一个词的词义。

　　例题1

　　If you happened to be sitting in the woods outside the city, you might have witnessed a strange sight. You would have seen a very proud looking man riding along horseback, saying something.

　　解答

　　我们可以从上下文知道，前后两个句子是相互支持的，后面一句进一步解释了前一句。“strange sight”对应“a very proud looking man riding along horseback, saying something”，因此“witness”就应该和“seen”对应，那么划线词就应该是“看见、见证”的意思。

　　例题2

　　In the northern regions the winters are generally cold and humid, and the summers hot and dry .

　　解答

　　这一句讲一个地区的气候，前后两句成相反关系。“winter”对“summer”，“cold”对“hot”，那么，“humid”就应该对应“dry”，是“dry”的反义词，意为“湿润的”。

　　根据文章定义、解释猜词

　　这个技巧很好理解，我们直接以例子说话。

　　例题1

　　Such experiences are not unusual for the amateur conchologists, people who collect shells.

　　解答

　　读句子我们可以看出“conchologist”应该是一个人（“-ist”表示一般表示做某事的专家），果然后面斜体字部分是进一步解释“conchologist”是指“收集贝壳的人”，那么“conchologist”就是“贝壳学家”。

　　例题2

　　Jack isnow a florist, who keeps a shop for selling flowers in our district.

　　解答

　　同理，该句是定语从句，“who”后面引导的就是对“florist”的解说，可以得知，“florist”就是“卖花人”。
